"A whirlwind of eccentricity & hilarity that will thoroughly amuse!"
Robin Anderson’s Not Bad, Bubba! is a bold, darkly humorous, and wildly entertaining novel that defies convention with its unapologetic flamboyance and sharp wit. With its larger-than-life characters, biting satire, and outrageous twists, this story provides a unique reading experience that is both laugh-out-loud funny and gleefully provocative.
At the heart of the novel is Warwick Laudanum-Standton, a deliciously over-the-top protagonist whose eccentric personality and elaborate schemes for revenge dominate the narrative. Warwick’s flamboyant life in Chelsea Harbour, complete with his meticulously designed “Dracula’s Den,” is a whirlwind of extravagant indulgence and sharp-tongued humour. His quest to exact revenge on childhood bullies propels the plot forward, creating a series of chaotic, often hilarious events that are as unpredictable as they are entertaining.
Whilst its most immediate appeal is to LGBTQ+ readers—due to its queer protagonist, camp tone, and sharp sense of humour—Anderson’s storytelling transcends genre boundaries. The novel’s larger-than-life characters, outrageous settings, and razor-sharp dialogue will captivate anyone who enjoys satirical fiction and outrageous comedy. Warwick’s antics, though extreme, serve as a mirror to the absurdities of privilege, vanity, and self-obsession, making the novel a feast of humour for readers who enjoy sharp, biting wit.
One of Anderson’s key strengths is his ability to craft a vivid and immersive world. Warwick’s opulent lifestyle, his eccentric habits, and even his conversations with Vincent, his loyal Jack Russell terrier, are described with such energy and precision that readers are pulled into his madcap world. The book is unapologetically flamboyant, revelling in its characters’ quirks and the sheer audacity of its situations.
Though Warwick is the undeniable star, Anderson populates his story with an equally memorable supporting cast. Kurt, Pegg, and Delilah, to name but a few, bring their own blend of outrageous personalities and sharp dialogue, adding even more colour to an already vibrant narrative. Their interactions with Warwick create a dynamic web of comedic tension and absurdity that keeps readers thoroughly entertained.
Anderson’s sharp dialogue is another highlight, showcasing a mastery of satirical humour that keeps readers engaged from beginning to end. From Warwick’s biting retorts to the absurd exchanges he has with his supporting cast, every line feels meticulously crafted to amuse, shock, or both.

Not Bad, Bubba! is a delightfully outrageous and hilariously irreverent novel that refuses to take itself too seriously. Robin Anderson’s unique voice, coupled with his flamboyant and fearless storytelling, ensures that this book will resonate with LGBTQ+ readers and anyone who enjoys bold, satirical humour. "‘A complete pleasure - rollicking along with Robin Anderson's inimitable wit."
Grady Harp, Goodreads and Amazon
London author Robin Anderson has polished his recipe for entertainment to a fare-thee-well. He creates impossibly ludicrous characters who happen to bounce off each other in the most unexpected way, fills his stories with incidents that can only fall into the 'naughty range', and yet his manner of writing is so sophisticated and solid that about one fourth of the way through his books the reader realizes the farce is meant as good-humored fun and should not be taken too seriously or dissected or analyzed because the author is always just around the corner (or on the next page) with another guffaw to top all previous ones. Settle back and prepare for laughs and finessed entertainment!
Robin’s dash of intro ignites interest in the tome that follows: “Not bad, Bubba!” may not sound a typical Machiavellian cry but rest assured, when uttered by dilletante Warwick Laudanum-Standton, the three words prove themselves true to the original owner when used by the unscrupulous 21st Century wannabe.’ That opens the doorway for the unique and bizarre characters entry, and this book (like all of this talented author’s genre) entertains – and informs! – from first to last page. Another Robin Anderson treasure.
